Project #3 News Story

For this project we have had a few different ideas. We started with an idea to do the story on the raising prices in the food court here at IUPUI. We decided to film this on a Saturday to get the most time with the camera so that ruled out the food court idea because the food court isn't open on Saturdays. So Steve and I were talking about it and I told him about the Bike lane idea and he kind of liked it. I told him about how the lanes were proposed on Oct. 15th and how they were supposed to finished within 6 weeks. We both agreed that this would be a good news story.

We went out on Sat. with a camera. We had written a script before we went and We set up the camera on a tripod right in the street. Filming went pretty smoothly. There were a lot of cars that was the main problem. We had to film around the cars driving. But that was really the only filming issue. We interviewed myself and Ahmed. Ahmed had some great information for our video. He had lived in Germany the year before and had a great perspective to show how important bike lanes are. We used a lapel mic. for when Steve was talking and used the built in mic. for the interviews.

The editing of the video went pretty well. It was a news story so there really wasn't much editing techniques except for straight cuts. So the editing went fairly smooth and I think the video itself turned out very well.
